Los Angeles is on a mission to reduce energy usage in its commercial buildings. in December 2016, the Los Angeles City Council established the Existing Buildings Energy and Water Efficiency Ordinance (LA EBEWE). This ordinance is part of Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Sustainable City plan to reduce energy consumption in LA 30% by 3035. The LA EBEWE requires privately-owned buildings that are 20,000 square feet or more to disclose energy and water consumption via EPA’s ENERGY Star Portfolio Manager.
Los Angeles has also joined the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Challenge (LA BBC) national efforts to reduce energy and water consumption 20% by 2020. To achieve this goal, LA BBC offers free energy efficiency advisory services to commercial buildings. In support of this initiative, Waypoint is working with LA BBC to identify gas efficiency opportunities in commercial buildings through the Connect Program with the Southern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas). If you’re not familiar with Waypoint’s Connect Program, it’s a comprehensive energy efficiency savings program focused on driving energy efficiency in commercial buildings that is available free to building owners and managers. With SoCal Gas, Waypoint operates the Connect program to identify and implement individual gas efficiency measures. The program offers benchmarking review, on-site gas efficiency audits, tailored business case development and SoCalGas incentive identification and processing support. The Connect Program is available to any SoCal Gas customer, free of charge.
Waypoint will have the pleasure of hosting a webinar with the LA BBC about the SoCal Gas Connect Program on July 26th from 12pm-1pm. If your building is in the Los Angeles area, register here to learn how we can help you gain insights on how your building is performing and which gas measures can help you save energy and dollars. For information about the Connect Program in other areas, check out our website or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
